Marco’s research focus is on Sustainable Bioreaction Engineering principles to synthesise value-added chemicals and pharmaceuticals. He has an established track record in engineering and scale-up/down of fermentation and biocatalytic processes both in single-step and multi-step., Marco has a long-standing interest in flow systems and microscale bioprocessing techniques to facilitate process intensification and on-demand productions. These technologies and approaches have been applied in the area of RNA manufacturing, fermentation and mammalian cell culture. Marco has long-standing involvement with the EUROMBR Training Course on Bioprocess Development & Medical Applications of Microfluids and is an Editorial Board member of Biochemical Engineering Journal.
