Post-Doctoral Research Associate

Marie Dorn profile

Marie is a bioprocessing scientist with a strong background in upstream bioprocessing, particularly in mammalian cell culture and strategies for process intensification.

She holds a BSc and MSc in Biosystems Engineering from Magdeburg, Germany. During her studies, she worked in the Upstream Vaccine Bioprocessing Group at the Max Planck Institute, focusing on advanced strategies for whole-virus vaccine and defective interfering particle (DIP) production, and expanded her expertise through an internship at KTH Stockholm in the Advanced Bioprocessing Group, where she developed screening methods combined with modelling for media optimisation in perfusion processes.

Marie is currently completing an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) at University College London in collaboration with AstraZeneca, where her research centres on high-throughput cell clone screening approaches to enable process intensification in mammalian cell culture systems.

Currently she is focusing on intensifying bioprocessing of current vaccine platforms in the VaxHub, contributing to scalable and reproducible vaccine manufacturing platforms.
